Description
Original watercolour illustration of a Grass Owl by Trevor Boyer published in Owls of the World p.26. The image measures approximately 190mm x 215mm with a very good mount with gily ruled lines. Attractively framed in wood with a distressed gilt finish, approximately 405mm x 450mm, the frame is near fine to fine. The work is in fine condition, signed by T. Boyer to the lower right corner, colours are vibrant, sharp with exacting clarity. Provenance - Exhibited at the Wildlife Art Gallery, Lavenham - Gallery label to the back. Marked with Gallery price of £385. [Trevor Boyer 1948 - Trevor Boyer was born in Castleford in the West Riding of Yorkshire. He attended the Wakefield School of Art from the age of 14 and then worked as a commercial artist in Leeds for 9 years. In 1976 Boyer became a freelance artist and has specialized in birds ever since. He has contributed to many publications , including The Illustrated Gide to Britain's Coast, Owls of the World, Ducks of the World The Reader's Digest Nature Lovers' Library 'Birds of Britain', 1981, and the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds and the Automobile Association's Complete Book of British Birds, 1988. The comprehensive work Vanishing Eagles by Philip Burton, produced in association with Eagle Star Insurance who commissioned Trevor Boyer to produce the illustrations as posters. He has exhibited at the Leeds City Museum and the Society of Wildlife Artists, Mall Galleries, London, also in Europe and America.
