Description
A large, "plein air" painting of waders, full of movement and vibrancy. It is insribed in pencil along the lower edge "Exposed Mud on the Thames Higham Byte [sic] Februrary 1994. Species depicted include Oyster Catchers, Curlew, Lapwing, Avocet, Ringed Plover and Herring Gull. Signed in pencil to the lower right corner. Image 545 x 740 mm, frame 825 x 1010 mm. Very good condition. Acid free mount with hand-painted wash lines, gilt frame, slightly rubbed to edges. [Biography: David Bennet (1969 - ), born in Doncaster, and like so many other wildlife artists, featured by LOE on this site, from an early age had a fascination for drawing and observing animals and birds. He gained a degree in graphics and illustration at Leeds, and then between 1993 & 95 completed a Masters in Natural history Illustration at the Royal College of Art in London, studying under John Norris Wood and David Boys. In 1992 he became a professional member of the Society of Wildlife Artists (SWLA). Bennet has written and illustrated several books including a number of collaborative projects. He describes his work as "a lively representational and intimately observed response, captured through field sketches and painting, of my travels around the UK."
