A fine, expansive, gouache with watercolour painting of grouse in flight in upland moorland, by the well-known Irish ornithological and sporting artist Robert Milliken. Signed R. W. Milliken (lower right)' painting: 545 x 735 mm (21 1/2 x 29 in); frame: 840 x 1030 mm. Recently framed and glazed; white, acid-free, conservation mount with wash lines, gilt frame slightly rubbed. In excellent condition, bright and fresh. An imposing work. [Artist's biography: Robert W. Milliken was an Irish artist influenced by John Cyril Harrison among others, who worked mainly in watercolours and gouache.
