Description

1834-1836 Contemporary half-calf, beautifully rebacked, five raised bands and black and green labels with gilt to the spine, contemporary marbled brds. 24 hand -coloured engravings, each divided into four parts, with tissue guards. Total number of illustrations 96. Accompanying text describing the species on each plate. . To the front in the following order the title pages, preface and index are bound in for vol. V 1834-5, including part X 1834 and vol. VI 1935-6, including part XII. The first plate is bound in between the index for part XII of vol. VI and title page for vol.5. The plants covered are from Plant No. 481 Paranthus Chinen'sis to No. 576. Agrostem'ma Sue'cica. Contents clean and tight, very minimal foxing to a few pages, more obvious to the title pages, no loss or damage, colours bright, minimal toning. A near fine and beautifully bound copy.
